Privacy notice
Who we are
This website is run by Tom Wehrle as a voluntary, unpaid group of vehicle owners. We are the data controller for the information you give us. Contact: hello@kiaclaim.org.
What we collect
The details you enter on the registration form: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, postcode area, details of your vehicle and its purchase, what happened when it was stolen, the losses you suffered, and your account in your own words.
Why we collect it and on what basis
To find out how many owners are affected and what has happened to them, to approach law firms about a possible group claim, and to contact you about it. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the boxes on the form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.
Who we share it with
Nobody, unless you have ticked the box allowing us to pass your details to a law firm considering a group claim. If you have, we will tell you the name of the firm before anything is sent. If you have agreed to speak to journalists, we will pass your name and email only to a named journalist, and only after confirming with you. We may publish anonymised totals (numbers of cases, models, regions), never individual details.
Where it is stored
On this website, hosted by Bluehost, behind a password, with access limited to the site administrator. Form submissions are also emailed to the contact address above. We will not use any other service to store or process your data without updating this notice.
How long we keep it
Until a group claim is concluded or abandoned, or for two years from your registration, whichever is sooner, unless you ask us to delete it earlier.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email hello@kiaclaim.org. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies needed to run it. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
